There are some people who claim to be animal lovers who occasionally get some media exposure criticising the Kangaroo Island Cat Control Committee.

These people can more accurately be called cat lovers rather than animal lovers, because they insist we should trap the feral cats, desex them and return them to the wild, where they can continue to prey on native species. They seem to think that cats should be allowed to live at the expense of other animals.

Their proposed method of cat control is called Trap-Neuter-Release and is described in more detail here.

The Kangaroo Island Cat Control Committee try to take a "whole of island" approach, with due consideration for the care of wildlife, domestic stock and pets, and the humane removal of feral cats.

Other organisations are involved with the removal of feral pigs, goats and deer from Kangaroo Island.
