Feral cat humane safety

Feral cat humane safety

Where appropriate, a trapped feral cat should be covered with a blanket to help it settle and not injure itself or the handler, trying to claw through the cage grid. Here, an adolescent male has been trapped, and a blanket is being placed over the trap in-situ, which, whilst preferred, is not always possible.

This feral cat was trapped at the edge of a farm paddock adjoining a creek, about 1.5k from the homestead. The creek has been fenced for stock control and has reverted to a native wildlife corridor, providing a ready source of defenceless food for this fearsome predator.

As with all cats trapped on this farm, it was quickly and humanely culled, and its pelt tanned for possible value-adding.
